The Black Family
Dear Friend,
First, we would like to thank you for taking the time to look at our profile and learn a little about our family and our passion for adoption. Adoption has completely transformed our lives. We absolutely love having an open adoption with our son's birth family. We are very fortunate that he has open relationships with biological aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and his birth mother. We very much enjoy visits with them and love how adopting our son has expanded our family. |
The idea of adding another child to our family through adoption comes with a lot of emotions. Obviously we are excited. We look forward to growing our family and for our son to experience having siblings. But there are also feelings of sadness. Adoption always begins with loss. The grief experienced in the adoption process is not lost on us. The Bible stresses the importance of grieving with those who are grieving, and rejoicing with those who are rejoicing. This is lived out in adoption. We grieve and we rejoice.
We talked about growing our family for years before we were able to. And we love being parents more than we could have ever imagined. Thank you for thinking of us as you consider placing your child. Our desire is to provide a safe and loving environment for your child to grow up in. We will celebrate our children’s cultural backgrounds, and keep their history alive. In our children, we desire to instill the values of hard work, discipline, kindness, selflessness, and compassion.

About Us
We met in 2007 in New Brunswick Canada where we went to College. We got married in June 2009, and have lived in 3 different countries over our 8 years of marriage. We currently live in Central Upstate New York, where Mitch works as a pastor at a local church.
In 2010 we served as missionaries in Haiti. We loved our time on the field, and would love to go back short-term one day. Our time in Haiti warmed our hearts very much toward adoption, and we finally brought our son, Emmanuel home in September 2015. We have loved becoming parents together. Raising our son and helping shape his heart has been such a huge blessing to both of us. As a couple we love taking walks, enjoying a good meal, having a meaningful conversation over a deep bowl of ice cream or frozen yogurt (with all the toppings), reading and memorizing Scripture together, playing with our son and hearing his precious giggles, working out at the gym together, pulling out our instruments and making music, going to the beach on nice summer days, and grocery shopping. |
