I pulled out something he hadn’t seen in a while and he got so excited to see it... like, overly excited.
Mom: Did you forget about that?
Manny: I for-did!
Ah yes... the oddness of the English language
Manny was using the potty while wearing a dinosaur hat...
Manny: Mommy! Can I have huge dinosaur poop?!
Yes... absolutely... clean yourself out! Oh, boys...
Manny: (speaking to the cup) Oh! I’m so happy to have you! I’m so happy you came home!
Well, mom, apparently hanging onto this cup was a good choice...
Manny: Mommy! Are you making the REAL oatmeal?!
(I was making oatmeal on the stove)
Mom: I am! Chocolate Peanut Butter!
Manny: Oh! I like it!!! And... I looooovveee it!!!
Manny gets riled up and occasionally bites (not hard) while pretending to be a tiger or some other wild beast... this was one such case...
Mom: Ouch! Manny, you can’t bite people! You’re not a savage animal!
Manny: *growls and glares* I’ll just stare at you... with my eye balls!
As opposed to.... staring at me without them?
I gave Manny and Mitch new haircuts this week. So they were looking in the mirror together at their handsome new looks.
Manny: We ALL got new haircuts! Me... and daddy.... and me!
Apparently both the real Manny AND the mirror Manny got haircuts?
Manny: Ya know what happened last night?
Mom: What happened?
Manny: I fell awake! And I jumped up and I got my sword and I got my sling!
True story...
Emmanuel had 3 drinks in the living room: water, juice, and milk. I was fixing lunch and heard him talking to his cups
Manny: I love you cups! (Embraces all 3 cups) God, thankyou for my cups! Amen!”
Lastly, Emmanuel is starting to understand the idea of dreaming. He’ll usually say something like, “Do you want to know what happened last night when I went to sleep?” Then he’ll give some strange account of his experience. I’ve started asking him if this happened while he was asleep, in his mind. He says it does, so I’m assuming he’s telling me about dreams. He was retelling a dream to me the other day, but when he told Mitch and I together later, the story got bigger and longer... so I think it was dream turned imaginative story. Either way, this kid has quite an imagination!
So, here is how the dream/story goes:
Manny: Last time I napped, I grabbed you, and I threw you to the moon!
Mom: The moon?!
Manny: Yeah!
Mom: Did I say “Ahhhhh!!! Maaaaannnnnnyyyyy!!!!”?
Manny: Yeah! You did!
Mom: Did you miss me?
Manny: (laughing) Yeah! I did miss you!
Mom: Then what?
This is where I will continue with narrative:
After Manny threw mommy to the moon, “some guy” took care of him. He didn’t know who this person was, but he took him away. During Mom’s excursion to the moon and Manny’s captivity, Daddy was searching, saying “Where’s my Manny?!”
Meanwhile, Manny is thrown into the fire. (Shadrach, Meshach, and Abendego?). Why is he thrown into the fire? Because he’s bleeding... makes sense, right?
As Manny is being thrown into the fire, Superman rescues Mommy from the moon and brings her home. Gee, thanks Superman! Then when Mommy gets home, she rescues Manny from the fire. Manny had thought she was gone forever! But he was very happy to see her.
At this point, I had to ask the question that perhaps you are wondering too
Mom: Where was daddy during all this?
Manny: Oh... I threw him into the fire! And then I rescued Daddy!
Mom: You rescued him? But you were the one who threw him into the fire!!!
Manny: Yeah... I did... oh yeah!
“Hello, my name is Manny and I suffer from short-term memory loss”
